About Sustainability CoLab:
Sustainability CoLab is a national not-for-profit and network whose mission is to enable, mobilize and build community-driven and action-oriented approaches to business sustainability. Sustainability CoLab creates local sustainability networks that support businesses to set and achieve GHG reduction goals. CoLab was inspired by the success of Sustainable Waterloo Region’s Regional Carbon Initiative (RCI) which has engaged over 60 organizations – representing 13% of Waterloo Region’s workforce – to collectively commit to reducing 45,000 tonnes of GHGs in the next ten years (like taking 10,000 cars of the road annually). CoLab is presently supporting seven Ontario communities to launch or accelerate their own GHG reduction initiatives: Durham Region, Kingston, Niagara Region, Ottawa, Sudbury, Waterloo Region and York Region. CoLab aims to support 8 communities in Ontario by the end of 2015 and should the model prove successful, explore supporting communities across Canada in 2016.
