Job Purpose (Job Summary):
DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION: Global Portfolio Services Group provides global end to end trade processing, portfolio operations and data management to support Invesco’s investment related activities. The group mission is to provide quality service with highly disciplined operations; deliver responsive support for investment process, new products and instruments; be responsive to changing economic, regulatory and risk environment; manage and deliver quality data in accordance with “SMART” data principles.
The mission of the Data Management function within the Global Portfolio Services Group is to process and deliver standardized and centralized security reference, pricing and corporate action data that serves as the single source of data for all relevant applications and processes, at the best cost. The department’s objectives are to:
Operate a global organizational structure responsible for securities data management including security master, security valuations and corporate actions
Maintain and continue to enhance the single security master reference database that all investment, trading, and functional (portfolio administration, fund accounting, compliance, client services) teams can depend upon for performing their tasks
Manage, source, value, validate and deliver high quality security price data to be used in all valuation activities, taking into consideration all regulatory, accounting standard and risk management requirement
Manage all aspects of corporate actions activities to ensure the right information is updated and made available for investment and accounting activities
Continuously improve on efficiency, effectiveness and quality of investment operations data management, streamline data feeds and associated data quality activities
Create and maintain global security data standards and global pricing policy
Expected to work independently and escalate issues appropriately, provides Security Master and Reference Data Support Services to Invesco’s internal clients globally. Liaise and work jointly with team members in global locations (Toronto, Houston, London, Hong Kong and Hyderabad) to provide 6×24 coverage. Participate in research and analysis of security master related topics such as new instrument implementation, data related measures (e.g. data standard, quality, integrity, reconciliation). Participate in automation and improvement of daily operational processes.
Key Responsibilities/ Duties
Service internal clients (such as: portfolio managers, traders, compliance) within Invesco globally by executing tasks outlined in the Security Master Global Support Service Catalogue
Sample tasks include the set up, maintenance, review and validation of security master, brokers and various reference data elements
Deliver production support tasks timely, accurately and meet informal SLA
Participate in research and analysis of security master related data in support of the creation/maintenance of Invesco specific data elements
Perform analysis, User Acceptance Testing and rollout support on new business requirements/projects (e.g. upgrade/enhancement of applications used)
Focus to ensure our operation procedures fits global and regional needs. Maintain and update documentation on Data Management’s global and regional operational procedures
Validate and ensure data override requests conform to Invesco’s Data Standard; conduct research/analysis and escalate issue to appropriate Data Governance bodies as needed
Proactively contribute ideas and participate in continuous improvement initiatives
Provide support on corporate actions and security valuation operational tasks as needed
Participate in data reconciliation process between various internal systems as needed
Build strong business relationship with internal departments we support and develop an understanding in Invesco’s data users’ needs
Work Experience/ Knowledge
Minimum 0-2 years’ securities industry experience
Sound knowledge of investment products globally is required
Knowledge of market data services such as Bloomberg and Reuters is a plus
Pervious knowledge and work experience with data management applications (e.g. CADIS, Eagle PACE)
Trading applications (e.g. Charles River, Aladdin)
Portfolio administration applications (e.g. Eagle STAR, Portia, FMC) and fund accounting applications (e.g. PAS) a definite asset
Skills/ Other Personal Attributes Required:
Customer focus and with a keen interest in providing superb services to clients
Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills. Experience in communication with all levels within a global organization a definite asset
Very strong organization skills, detail oriented, with an ability to understand the big picture and work under pressure with tight deadline
Excellent research & analytical as well as problem solving skills
Ability to work independently and contribute/cooperate in a global team environment is critical
Strong Microsoft Office skills – in particular Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Project and Vision
Numerate and analytical
Formal Education:
Require a University degree in Accounting, Finance or business area of concentration (or an equivalent combination of education, training, experience that would provide the knowledge, skills and ability required)
MBA an asset
License/ Registration/ Certification:
Certify Financial Analyst (CFA) or Professional accounting designation (CMA, CGA, CA, CPA) an asset
Working Conditions:
Rotating support coverage is required for international markets that are open during statutory holidays
Participate in Business Recovery testing on an as-needed basis as defined by manager
Overtime, off hours support and travel may be required
