Civil Design CAD Technician

The City of Nanaimo is seeking a Civil Design CAD Technician.  Under the general direction of the Design Engineer, the incumbent is responsible for computer drafting work required in the preparation of engineering design drawings for capital projects; and assists the Design Engineer and Project technologists in design work and engineering calculations.  The ideal candidate will be a self-motivated individual who is well organized, has strong time management skills, is able to communicate effectively and has excellent drafting skills in conjunction with a high proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.  Knowledge of GIS software is considered to be an asset.

The incumbent must have a diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or Civil Design Technology from a recognized technical institute, a minimum of two (2) years work experience in municipal engineering using Civil 3D, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.  Possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is also required.

This is a unionized position.  $32.21 per hour – after Probation (Jan 2015 Rate), based on a 35 hour work week.  A comprehensive benefit package is included.
