Campus Course Network Manager – CityStudio – Vancouver, British Columbia

CityStudio is seeking a dynamic, collaborative and skilled manager to develop and execute our Campus Course Network. You are a natural relationship builder who will connect students from SFU, UBC, Emily Carr, BCIT, Langara and VCC campuses to project opportunities with the City of Vancouver. You will showcase your creativity, planning and organizational skills to deliver legendary Hubbub events inside City Hall.

POSITION:

Full time, contract position, with standard 3 month probationary period. Renewable annually.

LOCATION:

CityStudio Vancouver @ 1800 Spyglass Place

COMPENSATION:

Salary is commensurate upon experience.

ABOUT CITYSTUDIO:

CityStudio is an experimentation and innovation hub for the City of Vancouver where City staff, experts and students from 6 universities and colleges co-create projects that support city programs. Since 2011, CityStudio has engaged over 3000 students, 113 faculty and 60 City of Vancouver staff, contributing 156 projects and over 75,000 hours of skills training and public sector innovation towards Vancouver’s Greenest City, Engaged City and Healthy City Strategies. These projects offer unconventional solutions to improve our city.

We are building the next generation of changemakers and active city builders. Our 10 year vision is to create City Hall in the model of a “Teaching Hospital” with universities and other cities in the practice of collaborative city building.

In 2013, CityStudio was the first Canadian recipient of the Ashoka U-Cordes Innovation Award. WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Experience in project coordination and/or program management with connections to urban sustainability issues and projects.
Experience with community­ based learning and collaborative research at the university level.
Able to identify and create opportunities and build relationships for collaboration and tangible outcomes.
Experience in event management and production with a love for multi­stakeholder engagement events.
Experience giving inspiring presentations and engaging public speaking to diverse audiences and able to adapt messaging and style accordingly.

DUTIES SUMMARY

Manage, develop and execute all Campus Course Network activities
Manage and execute the A to Z needs for 25­30 campus courses per year
Create and manage Campus Course project budget and support revenue development
Manage Campus Course Network events ie; Hubbub, including hire and manage Communications & Events & IT Coordinator
Manage and ensure partner engagement with 7 key partners (COV, SFU, UBC, Emily Carr, BCIT, VCC, Langara) + new and emerging collaborators eg; Vancity, BC Housing, etc
Implement and manage governance for Campus Course Network, including advisory and development meetings
Manage and develop COV staff relations
Create energetic student engagement
Implement, manage and monitor all partner feedback (customer feedback)
Execute Campus Course Network evaluation and impact metrics

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

Project Coordination

Coordinate, animate and manage a network of 12­15 university Campus Courses on 6 campuses every Fall and Spring Semester (for a total of 25­30 courses per year), including at least 2 network engagement events.
Develop, manage and execute all Campus Course Network activities.
Manage records, databases, outcomes, reporting and evaluation for the Campus Course Network program.

Project Development

Work with the City of Vancouver to identify and develop project opportunities for students across all City departments with opportunities for multiple project outputs.
Build and manage relationships with City of Vancouver staff across all departments and maintain an ongoing project opportunity database for CityStudio.
Facilitate project development workshops with City of Vancouver staff, Faculty and other stakeholders.
Attend COV meetings and initiate planning development process with COV staff teams.

Institutional Liaison + Project Mentorship

Develop relationships with faculty members across all institutions and disciplines and lead the development and definition of project opportunities with the City of Vancouver.
Scope COV projects to be suitable for various university level curriculum and disciplines.
Serve as the bridge between City of Vancouver staff and faculty/students, and define project agreements between all parties.
Ongoing management of inquiries from staff, faculty and students related to CityStudio projects, programs and courses.

Design and deliver presentations to groups of students, faculty and City staff about the CityStudio network, courses and projects.
Co­present project opportunities to students and faculty with City staff.
Serve as an ambassador for CityStudio on university campuses.
Regularly post to Campus Course activities to social CityStudio media channels

Engagement and events

Manage and ensure partner engagement with all 7 institutions throughout the year (COV, SFU, UBC, ECUAD, BCIT, VCC, Langara).
Manage and oversee network engagement events (at least 2 major events per year).
Ensure engagement from all institutions, courses, students and faculty.
Supervise work study students, event staff, assistants and volunteers.

SUPERVISION AND COMMUNICATIONS:

The Campus Course Network Manager will report directly to Manager of Operations
Communication and requests from the CityStudio Co­Directors will be given priority and responded to within a working day.
The Campus Course Network Manager is expected to participate fully in team meetings and events and follow all CityStudio staff protocols.
