Description/Scope:

Part of the CSU’s mandate is to produce educational materials for its members on issues relevant to students and related to academic affairs campaigns and mandates. Under the supervision of the VP External Affairs & Mobilization and the VP Academic & Advocacy, the Campaigns and Academic Researcher will be responsible for researching issues, writing reports and developing argumentation. These will be utilized in the production of flyers, pamphlets, popular education documents relevant to both campaign and representation on academic bodies within the University.

Responsibilities:

In collaboration with the VP External Affairs & Mobilization and the VP Academic & Advocacy, this person will:

research issues, write reports and develop argumentation;
outreach to outside organizations to gather relevant information;
research information to be used in CSU pamphlets, flyers, info-graphs, and educational materials;
assist in the composition of flyers, pamphlets, reports, and other informational materials required for outreach with external bodies or for campaign purposes and internal University bodies;
perform other related duties.

Essential Requirement(s):

Passionate and well-informed about current politics and important social justice issues
Ability to think analytically and critically
Good knowledge of university governance structures and bodies
Ability to produce high quality research
Outstanding written skills
General knowledge of Canadian and Quebec politics
Experience with statistical analysis (SPSS)
Fluently bilingual for the purpose of reading and writing both French and English documents
Must be authorized to work in Canada (valid SIN card required)
Internal candidates shall have preference according to the Collective Agreement

Asset(s):

Previous experience researching and producing informational material on social, environmental, economic or academic issues
Experienced with office technology
Excellent organizational skills
Translation abilities
Team player
