As Business Systems Analyst, your role is to assist management in the efficient operation in the Department through reliable performance in all areas of information technology utilized by the City. You will be responsible for determining technology requirements for business processes and user requests, analyzing and implementing solutions that will support and improve their efficiency, observing and complying with municipal policies, and ensuring the safety and security of confidential material pertaining to the Department’s operation. You will be responsible for successfully managing project requirements to suit business needs, develop and maintain related documentations, and provide user support of applications.
You will consult with user departments, gather business needs, solicit product and enhancement requirements, advise on capabilities of technology, and specify changes to existing business processes and/or creating new business processes to meet requirements utilizing industry best-in-class standards and practices and project management methodologies and standards. You will work closely with end-users, business experts, technical staff, vendors and contractors, understanding business and system requirements that determine the analysis and design of new systems and/or system enhancements and project implementation.
In addition, you will attend project meetings to determine exact requirements and develop Business Requirement Documents (BRD), Source Requirement Specifications (SRS) documents, and Use Case Diagrams (UCD); prepare and evaluate technical proposals, general design system strategies, system requirement and design specifications, implementation and testing procedures, end-user training strategies and support procedures; and identify opportunities for improving business processes, and conduct product and market research to maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in the information technology industry; and, perform related work as required.
Must have a four-year bachelor’s degree in related field.
Must have a minimum of three years business or systems analysis experience.
Solid experience and understanding of ERP financial systems.
Considerable knowledge of municipal business practices and processes.
Experience in technical writing/documentation, business case definitions and analysis.
Experience in project management methodologies and standards.
Superior analytical, investigative and critical thinking skills.
Ability to analyze and evaluate business processes and develop solutions for assigned problems.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize workloads and meet deadlines.
You must be able to qualify for, and maintain, the required security clearance for the position.
