Business Development Lead – Parks – Conservation Halton

Your Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Parks and Operations, the Business Development Lead will play a key role in realizing the vision for a range of Conservation Halton parks projects and new business initiatives. This position will be critical to:
Contributing to the Parks Master Plan, developing parks concepts, facilitating public meetings, creating drawings, retaining contractors, and monitoring parks planning projects as they proceed
Identifying new viable business development initiatives for revenue generating programs, product and services with a customer centric lens
Working as part of high-performing matrix team, this role will take the lead with internal and external stakeholders to research, cultivate, design, develop new business opportunities as well as review current and future needs to position Conservation Halton Parks as a viable, self-sustaining profitable organization
Develop conceptual plans and project manage the preparation of detailed designs for specific park business development and/or redevelopment proposals
Prepare project elements such as terms of reference, work plans, cost estimates, graphic components, and tender drawings & specifications; prepare and monitor budgets for specific projects; prepare and maintain project status reports as required
Identify, research and pitch new, viable business development opportunities and develop business cases to pitch new initiatives to internal stakeholders and senior leadership team
Build strong internal customer relationships with colleagues, key stakeholders, and business leaders to proactively understand strategic objectives within all areas of the business to inform future new business initiatives and plans
Collect, compile, analyze and maintain data to support the evaluation and preparation of new business plans for parks
Participate in budget planning – prepare cost estimates for proposed new capital projects

Your Qualifications
Minimum 3 years of related work experience
Post secondary education in Business Administration, Engineering, Project Management or related discipline
Experience in a ‘start up’ entrepreneurial business, new business development, facility design, planning projects
Experience and/or formal training in Design Thinking, Change Management, (concepts and methodology)
Experience and/or exposure to business model design, analysis and implementation Experience in Project Management and/or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification would be considered an asset.
Strong track record in liaising with and collaborating with a high-performing matrix team
A keen interest to learn more about the latest trends and new business development on the global scale
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
An analytical mindset with the ability to translate into action with a strong problem-solving ability
Self-motivated and ability to take pro-active initiative
Proactive goal oriented, results driven, and customer focussed
