Aquatic Programmer at the
Castlegar & District Community Complex!

The facility houses an ice arena, a 6 lane, 25 meter pool and leisure pool, whirlpool, weight room, fitness studio, meeting rooms, banquet facility, kitchen and senior centre. Adjacent to the facility are pickleball and tennis courts, soccer/football field, ball diamond and skateboard park. The Aquatic Programmer is a member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for planning, organizing and maintaining a diverse selection of aquatic recreation programs, training opportunities, activities and events for Castlegar and District. The Aquatic Programmer must possess a high level of creativity and innovation in order to create fun, exciting and educational programming that meets the needs of the community while working within budgetary and operational realities. Additionally, the Aquatic Programmer oversees the Aquatic Team and is responsible to provide the aquatic leadership staff with support and guidance to ensure a positive workplace environment that is oriented to trust, open communication, creative thinking, and cohesive team effort. This position also offers an opportunity to diversify and participate in programming for our growing fitness services.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES INCLUDE:
Diploma in Recreation Administration or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience.
Minimum three (3) years experience in recreation programming.
Diverse range of programming experience that includes pre-school, youth, adults, seniors, aquatic fitness and special events.
Minimum two (2) years experience in supervisory role.
Demonstrated success developing, organizing and implementing a variety of programs and activities.
Current knowledge of provincial legislation and health and safety as it relates to aquatic programming and aquatic center operations.
Strong dedication to health and safety in the workplace.
The successful candidate must be available to work a varied work schedule which includes day, weekend, and/or evening shifts.
