Water Treatment Plant Operator III or Higher – City of Dawson Creek

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications from qualified Water Treatment Plant Operators with Level III (or higher) certification for a full time permanent position to replace our retiring Chief Operator. Under the general supervision of the General Manager of Infrastructure & Development Services, Water Resource Manager, or designate, this position performs a variety of duties related to the collection, treatment, and distribution of water and wastewater.

The ideal candidate will have the following:
Grade 12 diploma, preferably with chemistry and algebra
Level III or higher Water Treatment Operator certification
Level II or higher Waste Water Treatment certification
Level I or higher Water Distribution & Wastewater Collection certifications
Chlorine handler’s course certification
Valid driver’s license
Minimum three (3) years of experience with water and wastewater treatment in a municipal setting.

Consideration will be given to candidates who possess EOCP Water and Waste Water certification and who demonstrate progression toward attaining additional certification. Preference will be given to candidates with both certifications. The successful applicant will have the ability to perform all duties in a safe manner and the ability to maintain harmonious relationships with all members of the public and other staff members. Physical agility, the ability to complete duties requiring physical effort and a proven ability to provide excellent service to the public are also required. Candidates with less than the minimum qualifications with proven skills and relevant experience may be considered.
