The Wastewater Treatment Plant of the Infrastructure Services division has an opportunity for qualified individuals to apply for the position of Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I. Reporting to the Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor, this position offers 76.5 hours bi-weekly starting as soon as reasonably possible.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator I will assist in the operation, monitoring, and general maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant equipment and facilities in accordance with the BC Ministry of Environment Regulations.
Qualified candidates will possess a grade 12 diploma; a completed Water Engineering or Environmental Technology program; a valid EOCP Wastewater Operator Level I certificate; and 1-2 years of related work experience in an operational environment. Candidates must have considerable knowledge of routine Wastewater Treatment Plant operations, procedures and methods used, as well as sound knowledge of the maintenance and repair of facility equipment. The successful candidate will demonstrate that they possess strong communication skills and are a dependable team player.
A valid EOCP Wastewater Operator Level I certificate and a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s license with satisfactory abstract are requirements of the position.
This position works 76.5 hours biweekly at a rate of $32.35 per hour. Employees at the Wastewater Treatment Plant shall normally work a schedule consisting of nine days of work in a fourteen day period. Each day of work shall be 8.5 hours exclusive of a one-half (1/2) hour lunch period from 7:30am to 4:30pm.
