Tenure Track Assistant Professor, French / Intercultural – Saint Mary’s University – Halifax City

The Department of Modern Languages and Classics, Saint Mary’s University, invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor starting July 1st, 2016. The Department is seeking an individual with a primary research profile in Francophone Studies, with a focus in Intercultural Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach language courses in both French and another language (other than English), as well as courses in Intercultural Studies taught in English. The Department currently offers courses in Ancient Greek, Chinese, German, French, Japanese, Latin and Spanish. The successful candidate would be expected to co-develop the Department’s proposed core courses in Intercultural Studies and work well in an interdisciplinary environment. We are particularly interested in candidates who, through curriculum development, can contribute to student understanding of global issues and their ability to live and work in a global environment. As well as maintaining an ongoing research program, the successful candidate will be expected to engage in service to the University.

Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or be near completion of the degree and possess native or near-native fluency in French and English.
