Team Lead, Municipal Enforcement – Beaumont

Do you have a strong municipal policing or bylaw background and are committed to community well-being, safety and engagement? We’re seeking a confident, energetic, team-oriented and personable professional to join our Protective Services Team, in the rewarding and challenging position of Team Lead, Municipal Enforcement.

Responsibilities include:
Enforcement of municipal bylaws and applicable statues as per appointment from the Ministry of Justice and Solicitor General of Alberta
Leading the Municipal Enforcement team ensuring quality and consistency of work
Ensuring Officer training and equipment meets the requirements of Beaumont, Occupational Health & Safety and the Province
Educating the public and enforcing municipal bylaws, provincial acts, statutes and regulations through daily proactive patrols
Responding to resident complaints regarding municipal bylaws and provincial statutes
Investigating alleged violations and providing evidence and assistance in prosecutions
Completing all necessary documentation with an emphasis on accuracy, exceeding industry standards
Assisting emergency response, internal departments, the RCMP and other police agencies when needed
Obtaining and transporting animals through the use of equipment, that are not in the care or control of a handler, to a designated animal shelter
Making budget and training recommendations to the Director, Protective Services

As the ideal candidate, you have the following:
Post-secondary education in a law enforcement field or municipal government administration
Five years’ experience as a Community Peace Officer I
At least three years of progressive supervisory experience
Certifications in EVOC and PPCT
The necessary qualifications to be appointed as Community Peace Officer I by Alberta Justice
A driver abstract that demonstrates responsible and safe driving behaviour
A satisfactory Criminal Record with Vulnerable Sector Check
Extensive knowledge of provincial statues and the criminal code
Ability to mediate and problem solve multifaceted situations
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills
Proficient computer skills
Ability to work a variety of shifts including regular weekend work

This role
requires an active, engaged leader who can motivate and mentor the team as well as develop positive relationships with various stakeholder groups and internal City departments. Our ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker, a skilled communicator, a relationship builder and someone who is adaptable and works well under pressure with minimal supervision.

This full-time, permanent position offers a salary range of $80,683 – $105,273 (starting salary is negotiable within this range based on suitable experience and qualifications), a competitive benefits package, enrolment in LAPP, and a 40-hour work week.
