Main Functions
To assist with the delivery of a hands-on sustainable construction education program, working with lead instructors, students, client and trades on the building of an ecological home.

Job Description
The Endeavour Centre is seeking an assistant instructor for its six-month Sustainable New Construction program, a training program for ecological building practices. The ideal applicant will have a solid understanding of residential construction and job site flow and protocol, will enjoy working with people and sharing knowledge, will have a desire to learn and understand ecological building, will be detail-oriented and thorough, and will thrive in a cooperative environment.
This position is seasonal and has the following criteria:
Starting on May 9, 2016
Ending October 14, 2016, with the possibility of a contract extension
Average of 32 hours per week (4 days, from 8.30am to 4.30pm)
Additional 8 hours per week negotiable, as required
Pay rate of $18-20 per hour
Use of vehicle for daily commute is employee’s responsibility
Employee will own, use and maintain his/her own personal tool kit
Employee will fill out detailed time sheets and submit them on a weekly basis
Payments will be made bi-weekly, one week after the pay period
Duties will include:
Understand the construction plans for the project and assist with planning and material take-offs
Arriving at the job site punctually
Working with students on assigned construction tasks
Assisting students with learning about tools, processes and job site protocols
Check condition of job site tools and maintain tools, blades, bits and accessories
Occasionally working alone and/or taking responsibility for management of job site
Coordinating and working with trades, as required
Tracking and filing invoices and delivery slips, as required
Maintaining a friendly, cooperative and professional attitude on the job site
Experience required:
Minimum 5 years general construction experience
Knowledge of green building concepts and approaches
Understanding of tool and job-site safety
Teaching experience is beneficial
Endeavour will provide:
