The Surveys Section in the Engineering Department’s Underground Services Division, is seeking a survey technician who will perform various engineering surveys, assist the Surveyor as required in completion of municipal survey projects and oversee small jobs in the Surveyor’s absence. The Survey Assistant, using Robotic Total Stations and GNSS, completes engineering preliminary / topographic surveys, records cadastral ties and underground utility connections; maintains integrated survey monuments; collects field data, processes and performs adjustments on raw survey data to produce finished CAD drawings; and carries out mathematical survey calculations.
Requirements include: Diploma of Surveying Technology from B.C.I.T. or equivalent; up to two years experience in municipal surveying work; a Valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers Licence; annual renewal of Driver’s Abstract; and sufficient health, physical conditioning, strength, stamina and coordination to permit performance of work in all types of weather conditions.
