Job Summary
Exactus Energy is looking for a Structural EIT to perform commercial structural assessments and liaise with Professional Engineers to complete review and seals. Our ideal candidate is adaptable, a self-starter and a strong communicator.

Responsibilities
Perform structural calculations and analysis to assess whether base buildings (wood-, steel-, concrete-framed) have structural capacity to support the added load of solar PV systems
Liaise with commercial site technicians to ensure sufficient data is collected on-site, assist with training technicians on structural component of site surveys
Organize and analyze on-site structural data/measurements as well as structural plans; use this data to draft framing plans in AutoCAD and complete structural calculations
Prepare technical reports to summarize structural analyses
Work with Professional Engineers (PEs) to complete the final review and stamping stages of structural assessments
Develop and apply knowledge of Canadian and American structural codes (OBC, IBC, IEBC, NDS, ASCE 7-16, etc.)
Ensuring assessments are completed in a timely manner, communicating regularly with clients regarding structural scope of their projects
Building commercial structural documentation for training and protocols
Complete commercial site visits as needed

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
2+ years’ experience performing structural assessments on commercial and industrial buildings. A focus on commercial roofing systems is a strong asset.
Working knowledge of RISA, SAP2000 or equivalent software
Experience performing structural solar PV assessments considered a strong asset
Working knowledge of AutoCAD is considered an asset
Self-starter who is able to learn quickly
Strong critical thinking, problem-solving skills, attention to detail
Strong verbal and written communication skills
