Future Majority is seeking a hardworking, passionate individual to help build a critical mass of young voters in Saskatchewan’s 2020 Provincial Election. The Saskatchewan Election Organizer will play an instrumental role in ensuring that youth priorities are elevated not only in this election, but within the Province for decades to come.
The Saskatchewan Election Organizer will work under the guidance of the Campaign Director to support Future Majority’s campaign to turn out thousands of young people to vote in Regina and Saskatoon, help manage a team of over 200 volunteers and work with local and national media to deliver the message that youth voters have power in this year’s provincial election.
The candidate we are looking for is: An organized, goal-oriented individual who can communicate effectively to an audience aged 18-34 years old. They are enthusiastic about developing and leading events to engage young voters and learn the ins and outs of electoral campaigning. They are willing to put in long hours to have an impact on Saskatchewan’s election. We care less about what’s on your resume, and more about your ability to tell stories, welcome new people into a movement and your ability to master new skills quickly.
Core Responsibilities
Volunteer Management: The Saskatchewan Election Organizer will be responsible for onboarding new volunteers through bi-weekly webinars, managing the Events Volunteer Committee as well as providing additional support to the Regional Field Director.
Events Planning: The candidate will organize and lead empowering elections events that will attract and educate young voters. They will work with the Campaign Director and a team of volunteers on this project.
Media Liaison: The candidate will be trained and supported to conduct media correspondence and interviews to elevate the stories of young voters throughout the campaign.
Direct Voter Contact: The candidate will contribute to the Direct Voter Contact Program by phone banking with staff and volunteers leading up to the election.
Tracking Event Results: The candidate will track their progress in order to measure and analyze the overall impact of campaign actions.
Qualifications
Strong verbal communication skills, strong work ethic and genuine passion for social change
Enjoys public speaking and is able to confidently lead online webinars of up to 50 people
The candidate is organized and is able to manage multiple competing priorities
Are flexible to work some evenings and weekends
Must be a resident of Saskatchewan
Experience managing volunteers or community projects
Experience writing clear, persuasive copy
Are able to work independently and receive feedback
Flexible and able to work in a fast-paced environment
Embraces experimentation, takes initiative and leads on identifying opportunities
Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Excel, Google Suite and volunteer management tools
Additional language skills are an asset
