Experienced Roof Journeymen Required- Permanent Full time position – $30.00+ per hour

Alturas Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd., located in Mississauga, is currently hiring individuals with at least three years roofing experience in the ICI sector (Commercial, Industrial, Institutional). This position entails working on the job site at various locations, primarily within the GTA, based on contracts awarded to us.

Successful applicants must have their own means of transportation to and from our shop, where we congregate each morning to discuss the previous day’s work and load up for the current day. From there, we will provide transportation to the job site and back to our shop at the end of the work day. The position is based on a 40-hour work week, primarily Monday to Friday, however, as we work outside and are susceptible to weather conditions there are instances where weekend work is required.

We are seeking individuals with at least three years’ experience in flat, built up roofing systems (4 ply felt, Modified Bitumen, Single ply membranes TPO and EPDM. Successful candidates must be comfortable with heights, thirty foot extension ladders and heavy lifting. Additionally, the physical demands include exposure to the applicable elements of the season for up to 12 hours each working day.

Duties include removal of various flat roofing systems, application of new built up roofing systems, using a flame torch, hot air welding of various membranes, mopping of hot asphalt, appropriate placement and cutting of insulation boards, operating power tools such as drills and screw guns and a constant awareness of the working environment with an emphasis on safety.

Successful applicants must possess their own safety equipment such as CSA approved work boots, gloves, hard hats and protective eyewear when required. In the construction industry various valid safety certificates are required. If a candidate in not in possession of such, we will train our employees in the basic requirements for roofing such as: WHMIS, Working From Heights and Propane Certification. Other valid certificates such as First Aid, CPR, etc. will prove beneficial.
