Program Director, Energy – Green Communities Canada

THE ROLE:
We are recruiting for an entrepreneurial part-time Program Director, Energy. This is a unique opportunity to grow and build upon GCC’s long history in the sector. GCC’s Energy Department currently runs two programs: EnerGuide energy efficiency home evaluations and Enbridge’s low-income weatherization program.
GCC is undertaking many new strategic initiatives this year, including shaping a new way forward for the Energy department. The Program Director will play a key role in shaping that future, working collaboratively with our member organizations, and creating a sustainable business model, allowing the Program Director position to continue and expand to full-time.
The Program Director, Energy will be a member of the Senior Management Team. They will work closely with the Manager, Energy Programs (an outside consultant, not a direct report), and report to the Executive Director.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Program Development:
Guide the strategy for the Energy Department in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors
Evaluate and seek out development opportunities in new Energy program areas (distributed energy and renewables, micro mobility, electric vehicles etc.)
Engage with different stakeholders and potential partners in the sector
Lead new proposals and/or grant applications
Keep up-to-date on Federal and Provincial climate plans, emerging trends and ways in which GCC’s Energy programming can intersect with social justice to address gaps in diversity within the environmental sector
Ensure new programming engages different populations (i.e.: new Canadians, Indigenous communities, youth etc.) in meaningful and reciprocal ways

Program Implementation (Existing Programs):
Work collaboratively with the Manager, Energy Programs on evolving processes to buildorganizational resiliency and better enable our member organizations
Develop stronger member organization engagement through monthly meetings, virtualevents etc. Nurture and develop these relationships.
Develop a marketing plan to boost our EnerGuide business and capitalize on the newFederal commitments to accelerate energy retrofits. To be developed with the help from theExecutive Director and Communications Coordinator.

Organizational Leadership:
Manage the 2021 budget and prepare the annual program budget for 2022
Liaise with other GCC programs and other Program Directors to find synergies
Participate in Senior Management team meetings and strategic planning
Additional responsibilities will be added if/when the position is extended and expands to full-time, and will include: recruiting/managing a team, communications, advocacy. Other responsibilities will be determined by the new hire and the Executive Director based on the hire’s strengths/interests.

Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Proven development track record in the non-profit sector, ideally within Energy related areas (home or building retrofits, renewables, electric transport etc.)
Experience in grant writing, corporate sponsorship, and/or other fundraising
Nice-to-haves:

French language skills
