Program Coordinator – Sea Smart – Vancouver, BC

Sea Smart is looking for a passionate, self-driven changemaker to support Sea Smart’s core goals of environmental education and conservation. The Program Coordinator is the main point of contact for all the programs hosted by Sea Smart, including summer camps, school workshops, outreach events, corporate programs, and community partnerships. This role is responsible for program development, coordination, administration, and hiring and training education staff and volunteers. The Program Coordinator reports to the Managing Director and supervises the Program Assistant, Educators and Program Volunteers.

Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Managing Director, the Program Coordinator responsibilities include:
Design, develop, evaluate, and coordinate the delivery of a variety of successful Sea Smart programs, including school workshops, corporate and community programs and events, summer camps, and outreach events.
Delivering all educational and community programs and ensuring procedures and protocols for safety and quality of programming are achieved.
Recruiting, training, motivating, supervising and evaluating a team of educators and volunteers who facilitate programs.
Design curriculum and engagement materials, including program presentations, online resources, brochures, advertisements and student worksheets.
Ensure grant deliverables are completed within deadlines. Maintain recording and tracking of grant deliverables, bookings, and administration.
Support management with grant applications.
Collect and assess program impact metrics.
Provide general support for customers via phone and email.
Develop and manage relationships with school and partnership opportunities.
Attend public engagement events and ensure targets are achieved for securing registrations, collecting donations and increasing brand awareness.
Other duties as required.

Qualifications Required
At least two years of experience working as a Program Coordinator or similar role.
At least two years of experience working with youth (ages 5-17), ideally in a formal or informal teaching role.
Experience with science and sustainability curriculum development for youth and adults
Proficiency with Microsoft and Google Suites is preferred.
Ability to obtain a clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector.
Minimum emergency first aid and CPR C level certification within the last two years.
Valid class 5 BC driver’s license (or equivalent) and driving for work purposes as needed is highly desired but not required.
Term of Appointment
This is a full-time role at 37.5 hours/week based at Sea Smart’s locations of work in Metro Vancouver with a possibility of hybrid work after probation pending approval from the Executive Director. There will be some occasions where you will need to work during evenings and weekends. The work hours in such weeks will be adjusted so you do not exceed 75 hours per biweekly pay period.
