Program Coordinator – ReThinking Waste – EcoSuperior

Position summary:
EcoSuperior is seeking a creative, passionate, and skilled individual, to join our purpose-driven team.
This permanent full-time (32 hours/week) position of Program Coordinator: Rethinking Waste, will be inspiring and supporting waste reduction, shifts towards a circular economy, and contributing to re-envisioning waste. You will be supporting Municipal Waste and Recycling Services and other initiatives supported by various funding agencies. Program Coordinators at EcoSuperior take responsibility for program areas, provide professional expertise and outreach to the community, partners, and funding agencies, manage budgets, and ensure that funded program deliverables are met.
The candidate for this position will have a strong background in the areas of environmental science and waste reduction, with a focus on recycling, composting, plastic use reduction, and community clean-ups. Strong communication skills are a must! Key Areas of Responsibility
The Program Coordinator is required to perform a range of duties including, but not limited to:
Program Planning
Research potential and additional program funders and partners
Participate in preparing proposed workplan(s)
Research and network to keep up to date with current information on the program area(s)
Collaborate on the preparation of funding proposals
Prepare itemized budgets; research sources and secure estimates for program materials required
Liaise with program partners; attend and chair meetings where necessary
Set up tracking systems for data collection or tracking deliverables as required
Design an effective program evaluation plan to measure the level of success in accomplishing program goals and objectives
Program Delivery
Complete workplans as per program deliverables and ensure deadlines are met
Track program data as required
Keep supervisor updated on progress
Prepare program reports and summaries for funders and project partners as required
Travel to project sites or training opportunities where necessary
Plan, track, and verify spending in multiple program budgets
Collaborate on program promotion, advertising and media events as required
Act as a media spokesperson for the project
Prepare written material and visuals for website sections, displays and presentations
Organize and conduct presentations and workshops for the public, schools, and community groups
Facilitate and chair meetings with project partners, funders, or advisory committees
Participate as a member of program-related community groups or committees
Actively ensure that the program, funders, and EcoSuperior receive maximum positive exposure within the community or region

General Office Duties
Answer inquiries from the public specific to your area of expertise
Liaise and assist with other program coordinators especially where programs are complementary
Ensure that all program files are stored, updated and accessible on the office network
Assist with office maintenance, chores and customer service when required
Participate in staff meetings
Assist in preparation and staffing for special events
Adhere to organization policies and procedures
Other duties may be assigned as necessary

Qualifications & Competencies
Willing to embrace the Mission of EcoSuperior, and contribute to a healthy workplace and team dynamic
Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong speaking and presentation skills
Educational background or experiential knowledge in areas of environmental issues, waste reduction, recycling & composting, community clean ups and event planning
Experience in managing a program budget
Ability to work both independently and as part of a project team
Proficiency in the use of computer programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, Powerpoint, Canva
Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle is preferred
The ability to apply an Indigenous lens and Indigenous knowledge to environmental outreach and education would be a strong asset
Terms of Work:
This is a permanent full-time position, 32 hours/week with work hours being Monday through Thursday, with a one-hour unpaid lunch break. The Program Coordinator will work from the EcoSuperior’s office located at 562 Red River Road, Thunder Bay, Ontario, respecting all Health and Safety practices, protocols, and guidelines; additionally, due to COVID-19, the TBDHU guidelines or unforeseen reasons, this position may be required to work from home for certain time periods. The salary ranges from $19.38 – $25.50 per hour depending on skills and experience and a benefits plan is available for full time staff, after completion of a 3-month probationary period.
