What you bring to the role:
The successful candidate will have a Masters in Engineering, as well as industry-related experience. Applicants are expected to have licenses for the practice of engineering in Canada (preferred) or have the ability and eligibility to apply for an engineering license with the Professional Engineers of Ontario. Applicants should have a background in Building Sciences Engineering with significant expertise in sustainability and Life Cycle Assessment. Experience with Building Information Modelling is an asset. Experience in a polytechnic post-secondary education setting, or equivalent experience as a trainer in business or industry is preferred, as well as coordinating project teams of learners working on industry projects / applied research across a broad industry base. Demonstrable experience integrating industry-led projects into curriculum as well as curriculum development are assets. The incumbent should have a strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations and industry stakeholders.
In addition, the successful candidate will have engaging and effective teaching skills, demonstrated ability to coach and support students, demonstrated experience managing classroom dynamics, strong knowledge and application of current pedagogical principles, a student focused approach and a demonstrated commitment to fostering innovation and positive change. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to and knowledge of principles of equity and inclusion, be a collaborative team player and be committed to a positive team culture. The successful candidate will possess well developed interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills and have demonstrated ability to contribute positively to curriculum development and delivery.
