Development Planning Summer Intern
Temporary Full-Time

The Planning and Development Department of the City of Coquitlam is looking for a Summer Intern from May through August 2015.

The intern will gain experience by working on a variety of planning projects. Projects assignments may include:

Conducting research and preparing background documents for special projects or initiatives;
Updating procedure manuals and guideline documents;
Assisting with public consultation events and evaluating public responses;

The intern will be responsible for:

Researching, assembling and analyzing physical, statistical, economic and social data related to assigned projects;
Preparing and maintaining records, reports, and statistics related to their work;
Compiling data and research into final reports;
Attending internal and external meetings as an observer where professional planning staff will be in attendance; and
Performing other planning related work as required.

The intern will be a student enrolled in an accredited Planning School in Canada who will be returning to the school full-time at the end of the summer to continue their studies. The Student should possess sound knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Experience with InDesign, SketchUp, Adobe Creative Suite, Illustrator, Photoshop, and GIS/AutoCAD would be considered significant assets.
