Reporting to the Parks Supervisor, the Parks Worker performs duties related to the maintenance of municipal parks including preparing and maintaining gardens, playing fields, trees and grass areas. Tasks include removing weeds and debris; installing or removing turf, soil and top dressing; picking up and disposing of refuse; assisting with the installation of irrigation systems; painting; and installing benches. This position is also required to operate and maintain a variety of equipment including utility vehicles, tractors and various hand and power tools.
The ideal candidate for this position will be highly motivated with a demonstrated knowledge of
a variety of horticultural and garden maintenance techniques, the use of hand tools and power equipment, and familiarity or training in accepted irrigation procedures.
In addition, the following essential qualifications are required:
Grade 10 education or equivalent;
Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License.
