Hours per week: 10 (probably 2 days/week at 5 hours each day)
Pay per hour: $18
Contract Duration: Sept. 28, 2015 – March 27, 2016. Renewal dependent on performance and funding.
SPEC is looking to hire an Operations Assistant to provide support in administration, communications and fund development.
Background
Founded in 1969, The Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) is a non-profit charitable organization that addresses environmental issues in British Columbia, with a particular focus on urban communities. Areas of work include local food security, zero waste, renewable energy and protection of local land and water resources. Job Description & Responsibilities:
Communications (approximately 5 hours/week):
Develop a communications action plan and establish targets.
Work with the Operations Manager and volunteers to run the organization’s external communications.
Supervise and make sure that blogs, social media and the newsletter are on time, active and impactful.
Keep website updated.
Provide some content for the mentioned communication avenues.
Administration and Fund Development (approximately 5 hours/week):
Reply to email and phone inquiries
Help with payment and donation processing.
Prepare meeting agendas and emails.
Support specific fund development drives.
Miscellaneous admin work.
Qualifications
Experience and skills in communications;
Working knowledge of social media and online communication tools;
Experience with administration in a small office environment;
Comfortable working with financial data;
Fluent in English;
Fundraising/fund development experience is an asset;
Graphic design skills an asset;
Interested in environmental and sustainability topics;
Enjoys working on a wide range of tasks and is able to improve working procedures;
Self-motivated, highly adaptable and organized;
Excellent people skills; ability to communicate with diplomacy and tact as a representative of SPEC.
