What Does The Net-Zero Transition Manager Do?
Net-Zero Ecosystem Analysis (35%)
Conduct an online market scan and connect with local partners to develop a roster of Atlantic Canada-based service providers (e.g. consultants, energy auditors etc.) capable of assisting manufacturers and other SMEs in the green transition.
Survey/interview 15-20 service providers identified to better understand their skills, capacity, interest, and barriers in supporting SME manufacturers and other SMEs on their net-zero journey.
Synthesize themes and draw out key insights to inform recommendations on how to prepare and cultivate sufficient availability of local expertise for the low-carbon transition.
Manage the completion of a policy scan which will be conducted by a project partner to identify what decarbonization policies and programs exist or is needed in the four Atlantic Canada provinces to influence SME manufacturers to decarbonize.
Net-Zero Manufacturing Study (35%)
Work with project partners to recruit four manufacturers across Atlantic Canada (1 from each province) to participate in the technical studies focused on identifying emission reduction strategies to reach net-zero emissions.
Act as the primary contact between the technical consultant, business participants, utilities/energy efficiency incentive providers, and our internal team to execute the project elements.
Manage the project effectively to ensure studies are completed on time and within budget, and that participants have a good experience.
Survey participants pre and post-study to assess the impact of the project on their understanding, readiness and willingness to adopt green practices.
Synthesize themes and key learnings from the net-zero studies to include in a public report, and to inform the development of a scaled-up program that would support hundreds of manufacturers across Atlantic Canada in the net-zero transition.
Work with Green Economy Canada’s communications team to develop case studies of net-zero study participants.
Sharing Project Findings and Stakeholder Education (30%)
Develop a public report that brings together findings and insights from the net-zero technical studies, service provider analysis and policy scan, and work with Green Economy Canada’s communications team to successfully launch the report.
Convene a roundtable with SME participants, policymakers, service providers and other relevant stakeholders in the region to review the findings, build cross-sector dialogue, discuss recommendations and identify new areas of research, training and collaboration.
Oversee and support the development of introductory education and tools to help sell the business case for taking climate action to manufacturers in the region.
