Neighbourhood Youth Worker – City of New Westminster

The City of New Westminster requires a dynamic, energetic person to work as an auxiliary Neighborhood Youth Worker in the Parks and Recreation Department. You will assist youth in being active in the community by planning, developing, promoting and implementing programs in collaboration with Neighbourhood Youth Councils and community groups.

REQUIREMENTS:
Completed courses in Community Recreation, Child and Youth Care, Social Services or a related field.
Experience working with youth aged 11-18 in a recreation environment.
Ability to manage a budget and supervise staff and volunteers.
Possess strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to be an effective team player and have the ability to handle diverse situations with youth from a variety of backgrounds.
Ability to liaise and build relationships with community stakeholders and school administration.
Valid First Aid Level 1 certificate is required.
Valid Class 4 BC Driver’s License is a preferred asset.
Ability to successfully pass and maintain a clear Police Information Check.
* Shifts are based on operational requirements; however, the successful candidate will have the flexibility to work up to 30 hours per week.
