Member Engagement Specialist – Green Economy New Brunswick

The Opportunity
Green Economy New Brunswick (GENB) is our first provincial Hub and first Hub in Atlantic Canada. As we grow the local New Brunswick team, we’re looking for a stellar Member Engagement Specialist to play a key role in delivering direct support to GENB’s business members. As an ideal candidate, you are a technically-minded sustainability professional excited by the prospect of supporting individual organizations to lower their GHG impact, and build New Brunswick’s transition to a low-carbon economy. You have a passion for community-led and business-focused climate action, and experience working in different business contexts. You enjoy building strong member relationships, are highly organized and detail-oriented, and possess strong bilingual communication and interpersonal skills.
Ideal Start Date: Immediate
Term: Full-time contract until March 2023, with potential to become a permanent position
Annual Compensation: $55,000 + $1,500 health and wellness allowance
Location: New Brunswick, remote work
Language: French and English proficiency required
Reports to: Hub Manager, Green Economy New Brunswick

What You Would Do
1) As the Member Engagement Specialist, you would: Support GENB’s members through high-quality, impact-focused member services (60%)
Act as the first point of contact for GENB members.
Support members to progress through GENB’s established milestone process, including:
Co-delivering member kick-off and data collection meetings alongside the Hub Manager;
Leading the data collection process with members and data quality assurance to enable the development of GHG Protocol compliant GHG inventories, Inventory Management Plans, and annual progress reports for members;
Co-delivering foundational training sessions alongside the Hub Manager;
Leading on-going 1:1 member progress check-in meetings;
Providing support to members to develop GHG reduction plans and set reduction targets.
Conduct technical research, make connections to external experts, and deliver ad hoc support to members as required based on emerging member needs.
2) Develop resource and process improvements to better support member’s progress (20%)
Identify the need for new resources or processes to support members, and proactively bring forward recommendations for those improvements.
Adapt Green Economy Canada resources for use in New Brunswick, and lead the development of new resources and processes where identified.
3) Collect impact data annually to measure our success (10%)
Lead impact measurement activities to assess member satisfaction and progression, as well as overall GENB growth and impact.
4) Manage member administration (10%)
Manage administration to get member agreements signed, keep member information and progress up-to-date, manage member renewals, and ensure member data is tracked.

What We Hope You Will Bring
Relevant work experience (4+ years) or accredited formal education in sustainability, business, or a related field. Ideal: previous experience working with or for businesses.
Bilingual proficiency (oral and written) required.
Experience working with businesses to measure and manage their sustainability impact. Energy Manager certification, greenhouse gas accounting experience in accordance with the GHG Protocol, and or/experience conducting facility walkthroughs considered assets.
Exceptional interpersonal skills, with an ability to listen well and form strong relationships with GENB members and co-workers.
Conscientious and detail oriented with an ability to effectively plan and manage multiple priorities, be proactive, and build trust that work is completed with quality and care.
Critical and strategic thinking to identify opportunities to improve systems and processes and inform key decision-making. An ability to share perspectives candidly and diplomatically to generate better solutions.
