Media Relations Assistant – Rivershed Society of British Columbia – Coquitlam

The Opportunity:
We are looking for someone with strong interpersonal skills and a passion for the Fraser Watershed to help build media and communication connections throughout the watershed. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities to share information about Rivershed Programs, creating a list of media contacts and communication outlets, managing media relations and media monitoring. You will draft written materials such as press releases, Q&A, and talking points, as well as respond to media inquiries, coordinate interviews, and ensure Rivershed spokespersons are properly briefed. You will coordinate media events, grow earned media exposure and create opportunities to raise awareness about Rivershed programs. This position works ~75% from a home office and~ 25% in-person, supporting Rivershed events and programs.
In addition to media relations, you will provide administrative and logistical support to the communications and programs teams, monitor incoming email messages, participate in team meetings and in ongoing decolonization and reconciliation discussions.

Qualifications:
Organized, professional, and attentive, with solid communication and writing skills.
Excellent time management skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks and demands, working both independently and with a remote team.
Proficient use of database and computer programs and online tools such as Keela, Microsoft 365 (primarily Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel)
Strong ability to manage and analyze data and produce relevant reporting.
Strong attention to detail and excellent follow-through.
