Cambridge Shelter is launching an employment social enterprise in May 2023. This is an opportunity to help us lead and grow a new employment project that will positively influence the narrative around homelessness in the Waterloo Region. Our ideal candidate has not only professional experience leading garden/yard work crews, but also a strong understanding of the profound impact this program can have on those overcoming homelessness.

Job overview:
This position will be responsible for coordinating and leading the operations of our new social enterprise which provides yard and garden maintenance to customers in the Waterloo Region. This is an opportunity to help influence and grow Cambridge Shelter’s newest project, which aims to take a preventative measure to homelessness through meaningful employment for our shelter clients and graduates.

Duties of the Social Enterprise Coordinator will include the following:
Lead all aspects of service delivery for our social enterprise, including responsibilities such as pricing, relationships with customers, job planning, crew management, yard and garden maintenance, etc
Mentorship, coaching, and leading the maintenance crew, which consists of shelter clients and graduates
Work alongside our social enterprise partner to grow the business and social impact model of the project
Assist with crew training, establish weekly maintenance schedules for customers, plan work schedules
Ensure job sites, vehicles, tools, and equipment are safe for crew members
Other duties related to the social enterprise as required by the team

Qualifications
Experience in leadership, customer service and in gardening/yard maintenance – Landscaping Apprenticeship Certification or equivalent is required
Experience supporting vulnerable populations such as those experiencing homelessness, addiction and concurrent trauma/mental illness
Valid driver’s license and ability to operate tools such as mowers, trimmers and other landscaping equipment
