Interim Executive Director – National Farmers Union – Vancouver, BC

Overall Function of the Interim Executive Director:
To implement the strategic goals and objectives of the National Farmers Union
With the President, Executive Committee, and staff, plan and coordinate the annual National Convention in November 2022
Coordinate and support Board and Executive meetings and the Convention Committee, Membership Development Committee, and Administrative Committee.
Maintain communication, relationships and support of all staff
Maintain budgets
Ensure the smooth implementation of all funding with timely meetings, submissions of final reports, coordination of NFU leadership, members, and staff, and grant applications, as applicable
Participate in Policy Committee meetings and other meetings as needed
Enable and coordinate NFU’s public visibility, liaison, networking with media, the government, the public and the agricultural sector using him/herself, the President and Board members as may be efficient and effective
Hire fall/winter interns if practicable
Train incoming Board Members, Caucus and Working Group leaders
Maintain relationships with the National Farmers Foundation, NFU-Ontario, and NFU-NB
Ensure the support of all Regional Conventions
Ensure the smooth and timely planning of NFU Days, NFUniversity, and other NFU events

General
37.5 hour work week, with evening and some weekend work required
Work from home office and/or the National Office in Saskatoon
The contract runs from August 15, 2022 through January 13, 2023.
Attendance at the National Convention in Saskatoon November 22-27 will be required
Applicant must have knowledge of the NFU to step into this role quickly and seamlessly.
Bilingualism in both official languages is strongly considered an asset.
Salary is $60,000 annually, pro-rated to the months worked, plus benefits

Qualifications
Education: Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in the agricultural field, natural sciences, the social sciences or a related field.
Experience in non-profit management, administration and leadership and community building.
Experience with the NFU is a strong asset
