Hydrogeologist – South Nation Conservation Authority – Ontario

POSITION DETAILS:
The incumbent will work in a multi-disciplinary team environment. Responsibilities are to provide technical Hydrogeological review to support South Nation Conservation’s (SNC) work, to oversee and improve the Authority’s groundwater monitoring programs, and to support groundwater related aspects of the planning program. Assist in the coordination and delivery of the South Nation-Raisin Source Protection Program; as a Risk Management Official/Inspector preparing Risk Management Plans, Assessment Reports, reporting requirements, and additional implementation activities. This position reports to the Managing Director, Natural Hazards and Infrastructure.

WHAT YOU OFFER:
A university degree in hydrogeology, geology or related discipline.
Certification as a Professional Geoscientist or Professional Engineer with Professional Engineers Ontario.
In-depth knowledge of hydrogeology, including groundwater quality, regional flow systems, contaminant transport, and groundwater/surface water interactions.
Knowledge of watershed ecosystems and watershed planning processes.
Knowledge of current standard practices related to groundwater monitoring, groundwater sampling and the analysis of groundwater data.
Knowledge of provincial and federal standards, regulations and guidelines relevant to Geoscience. Knowledge and experience with the Clean Water Act and Source Water Protection is an asset.
Knowledge of local geology and hydrogeology is an asset.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and verbal communication skills.
Excellent project management and technical writing skills.
Experience with hydraulic and hydrologic modelling software (including SWMHYMO, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS and GIS).
Proficient in the operation and use of MS Office Suite products and knowledge of groundwater databases and groundwater modeling software.
Relate well in both team-oriented and independent situations.
Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
Valid Class “G” Ontario Driver’s License.

LOCATION:
The SNC office is in a rural location in Finch, Ontario, southeast of Ottawa. The successful candidate must have reliable transportation.
