The City of Parksville is seeking a qualified individual to join our human resources team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources and Occupational Health & Safety, the Human Resources Assistant will provide superior frontline customer service, clerical, administrative assistance and research support in the areas of recruitment and employee orientation, benefits administration, occupational health and safety, training and recognition and assist with ongoing and new projects and initiatives as required. This position requires a high energy individual, able to take initiative and deliver excellent service to City staff and the public while building effective working relationships. Other exciting aspects of the role include participating in projects which involve researching, compiling and analyzing information and creating a variety of reports, along with utilizing your creativity in the planning and organization of staff functions/activities and other initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have an outstanding attitude and interpersonal skills, be highly organized and technologically savvy, able to work in an environment with changing priorities and constant interruptions and respond to new challenges and a high volume of work while prioritizing workloads to meet deadlines and handling multiple concurrent tasks.

The City of Parksville is looking for a highly motivated, proven team player with a demonstrated ability to “change gears” quickly. The ideal candidate will have graduated with a diploma or university degree in Human Resources or related field complimented by two to three years recent related experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience. A CHRP designation or working towards the designation is considered an asset; as is the completion of the Group Benefits Administration portion of the Certified Employee Benefits Specialist program (or working towards).
