The Opportunity:
Under the supervision of the Consultant, Human Resources, the Human Resources (HR) Assistant works collaboratively with the HR team to ensure the timely, accurate and effective delivery of HR services. As the first-line of customer service to all non-union employees, the HR Assistant provides departmental program, administrative, clerical and systems support in the following areas: recruitment and selection, labour and employee relations, payroll, pension and benefits, and conflict resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
Duties will include all aspects related to the administration of composing and proofreading departmental documents; preparing bi-weekly payroll action forms in accordance with the cut-off schedule; reconciling Visa statements; and, generating various scheduled reports. Other duties will include assisting the HR Consultant, Recruitment in various recruitment activities, such as scheduling and coordinating interviews with candidates and interview committees, generating and preparing all new hire paperwork and orientation packages, and other related duties as required.
Qualifications:
As the ideal candidate, you will possess:
Two (2) year community college diploma in business or equivalent, with an emphasis on human resources/payroll related functions or a combination of relevant education and experience preferably in a unionized environment.
Minimum of three (3) years of directly related experience.
You will have demonstrated ability to manage multiple, competing tasks and priorities and take initiative and work independently,
Detail orientated with an ability to solve problems and meet deadlines while functioning as part of a team.
You are comfortable dealing with all people within an organization by treat individuals fairly and with respect
Attention to detail and ability to review documents to proof-read material for accuracy and potential impact of changes
You have a proven ability to work with sensitive and confidential information
Deliver the highest quality service.
Ability to anticipate appropriate level of responsiveness as matters a rise.
