Job Description:
As the Handy-Person, you would work under Willowgrove’s Facility Director each day, overseeing a wide-variety of tasks. These would include maintenance, construction and building projects, small engine repairs, tree cutting, and other necessary forms of maintenance.
Ideal Candidate: Willowgrove’s team is comprised of hardworking and dedicated individuals who are passionate about keeping the charity’s programs in great working order. Therefore, from a skills perspective, the ideal candidate would be an experienced handy-person, punctual and self-motivated, who possesses a strong work ethic and can-do-attitude, and who is able to multi-task or switch gears quickly. From a work culture perspective, the ideal candidate would be friendly and respectful, willing to work collaboratively, and communicate skillfully, who cares deeply about supporting the charitable work of Willowgrove.
Overview of Responsibilities:
As the Handy-person some of your regular responsibilities would include:
Site Maintenance:
Maintaining program buildings, tenant spaces, and property as directed
Leading building projects, construction, installs, and supporting contractors as needed
Performing tree maintenance, cutting, and felling (Preferably chainsaw certified)
Building and/or designing small projects to meet the programming needs of Recreation, Education, and Farms
Performing routine small engine repairs, and vehicle checkups
Performing some carpentry, plumbing, roofing, and other tasks in the areas of facility repairs
Assisting with snow removal, grading pathways, and some earthworks
Assisting with weekly water testing and assist with monthly water samples
Assisting with baseball diamond maintenance
Assisting with opening, operating, and closing pool facilities
Barn and Farm:
Operating tractors and other farm equipment, changing over attachments
Assisting with barn maintenance, and fencing repairs
Supporting Director and Barn Staff with livestock care
Assisting with wild animal response as needed
Risk Management:
Assisting with property signage, parking, and occasionally security
Assisting with monthly safety inspections, including flagging safety concerns, checking fire alarms and extinguishers
Assisting with maintaining and completing maintenance logs
Additional requirements:
In addition to submitting a clear vulnerable sector check, the Candidate must:
Posses a driver’s license
Be certified, or willing to be trained on small non-municipal drinking water systems and testing
Be fluent in English
Be chainsaw certified, or willing to get certified
Be Working at Heights Certified, or at least willing to get certified
