Garden Patch Horticulture/Gardening Assistant – Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre

Job Description:
The Saskatoon Food Bank & Learning Centre’s (SFBLC) Garden Patch is a 1.5 acre urban farm that grows 15-20,000 lbs. of food for distribution to the community in emergency food baskets. The Garden Patch is also a tool for community engagement that brings together 2,300 volunteers annually, including school groups, corporate teams, and community members to cultivate community in a welcoming space. Education is also critical to the success of the Garden Patch. Every year we offer free workshops, programs, and one-on-one mentorship that provides an opportunity community to learn and connection with food in the city.

The Garden Patch Horticulture/Gardening Assistant position at the SFBLC works with the Agriculture Coordinators. They are responsible for assisting with day-to-day maintenance of the Garden Patch, including planting, harvesting, mulching, composting, and watering. The Garden Patch Horticulture/Gardening Assistant will occasionally be required to direct on-site volunteers and assist with delivering programming, activities, and tours to garden visitors under the supervision of the Education and Agriculture Coordinators.
