The Role
This is a full-time permanent position. The Executive Director will work year-round to build and maintain positive relationships with members, community groups, businesses, organizations, and government. The Executive Director is someone who is adept at fund development including grant writing, and who can find and leverage opportunities to ensure the financial stability of the organization. The Executive Director will lead a small team of staff and volunteers to execute the organization’s Strategic Plan. They are comfortable speaking in public and with the media, and are able to stay organized and up-to-date with administration and reporting requirements. The Executive Director will report directly to the elected Board of Directors. The selected candidate’s values should resonate with the organization’s mission and vision.
Responsibilities:
Revenue development with direction from the Board of Directors (includes grant writing, revenue generating activities, sponsorships, membership growth).
Monitor, manage, and reconcile financial records with the support of a CPA or bookkeeper as needed
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and strengthen relationships with members and stakeholders.
Implement the organization’s Strategic Plan.
Manage small team of staff and volunteer positions (includes Operations Manager, seasonal employees, and volunteers).
Complete administration and reporting duties in a timely manner.
Manage and delegate tasks related to program and service delivery such as Recycle-A-Bike, rentals, bike lockers, and special events.
Review, adapt, and deliver programming to meet the needs of the members and broader community.
Develop and implement strategies to cultivate and strengthen relationships with members and stakeholders.
Act as La Bikery’s spokesperson speaking about mission, vision, programs, and community impact as events, council meetings, and in the media.
Ensure maintenance of up-to-date contact list and regular communication with stakeholders through multiple channels (meetings, emails, newsletters, social media).
Report to the Board at monthly meetings and as required.
Experience/Qualifications:
Entrepreneurial and self-motivated.
Adaptive and innovative thinker.
Outgoing, friendly, highly organized person with interpersonal communication, coordination, and supervisory skills.
Previous experience with grant-writing and other forms of fund development
Previous work experience in community-based/nonprofit organization and/or co-operative
Bilingual (En/Fr) is a definite asset
Previous experience or demonstrated knowledge in developing and implementing equitable programing is an asset
Experience or knowledge of bicycling and barriers to bicycling is an asset
Compensation: Salary range is $56,000 – $60,000 based on qualifications.
Start date: Flexible start date to be negotiated with candidate.
