The Role
The Executive Director will be responsible for the overall strategic and operational execution of the Clean Economy Fund’s mission. Reporting to the CEF Board of Directors, the ED will lead the CEF by:
Overseeing the review and refresh of a 2-year strategic and operational plan;
Organizing regular convenings of funders with relevant experts, business and labour leaders, indigenous representatives and policy-makers to help understand and capitalize on, critical leverage points to accelerate Canada’s transition to a prosperous and inclusive net zero economy.
Commissioning research and analyses designed to help the CEF’s foundation partners make strategic, impactful, and, where appropriate, strategically aligned granting decisions.
Strengthening and growing the network of funders active in this space by providing proactive and regular communications and outreach on the work of the CEF and its partners.
Managing the administrative functions of the organization, including grant reporting, in a timely and efficient manner.

Exceptional listening, communications and convening skills;
Business-level fluency in both official languages;
A demonstrated understanding of, and a passion for, the challenges and opportunities in transitioning to a net zero economy in Canada;
A successful record of strategic leadership;
An outward and customer/member service orientation;
An understanding of successful strategies needed to lead the governance of a not-for-profit or membership-driven organization;
Comfort working independently with limited support.
Experience
15 or more years of professional experience
A track record of building and running successful collaboratives and/or networks.
Experience in association management, or in a management position with a not-for-profit organization, industry, or government in a related field
Experience in strategic, organization-level planning
Experience in outreach and communications activities.
Experience with the managing the administrative responsibilities and obligations of a not for profit or charity.
Experience with government relations and public policy systems
