The City of Parksville is seeking a qualified individual to join our Operations department. Written applications will be accepted until 4 pm on Friday, March 24, 2017 for the permanent full-time Equipment Operator III position.

JOB SUMMARY:
This is skilled work in the operation, minor maintenance and servicing of a variety of medium and large mobile, construction and maintenance equipment. Considerable independence of judgement and action is allowed in adopting standard operating techniques to a variety of difficult work problems. Work is distinguished from that of Equipment Operator II by the greater difficulty and responsibility in operating heavy and/or more complex equipment on construction work and the greater difficulty for the safety of others.

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Completion of Grade 12.
Training/Certification:
Possession of a valid Class 3 BC Drivers Licence with airbrake endorsement and a good driving record.
Experience:
Extensive experience in the operation and servicing of medium-sized and heavy construction equipment in the performance of a variety of construction and maintenance tasks.

SALARY AND HOURS OF WORK: This is a unionized position. The wage rate is $30.95 per hour after successful completion of probation (January 1, 2017 rate), based on a 40 hour work week in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.
