The Overview:
You’ll be responsible for curating and posting content about our programs, events, volunteer opportunities, and sustainability education for the LEN’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and online communications (website and newsletter).
You’ll be responsible for curating and posting content for our various programs, including Green Economy London (GEL), Greener Homes London (GHL), Green Infrastructure, Clean Energy in Remote and Rural Communities (CERRC), and other short term projects on all social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) and online communications (website and newsletter).
You’ll be responsible for enhancing our online engagement on our social media platforms and monitoring social media analytics for the organization.
You’ll be responsible for attending networking events and working toward our organizational sponsorship and strategic partnership and business development goals.
Preferable Experience and Skills:
Preference will be given to candidates that have the following experience and skills:
Experienced in social media management for non-personal use.
Experienced in graphic design, such as Canva.
Ideally in a program related to marketing, communications or graphic design.
Previous education or interest in STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) and/or environmental sciences is desirable
Experience with collecting, organizing, and summarizing data.
Experience in public speaking, community engagement, sales, or customer service is desirable.
Ability to communicate effectively, both written and oral, to engage new audiences.
Ability to work collaboratively on a team and independently to find solutions and meet deliverables.
The Details:
The Environmental Communications and Partnership Development Specialist will be working on the curation and delivery of our digital marketing and communications. This includes executing on daily communications tasks as well as improving our existing digital communications strategy to expand and further engage our audiences.
Responsibilities of the Environmental Communications and Partnership Development Specialist will include:
Maintain regular social media engagement on LEN’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram) by creating informative and creative post content as well as interacting with other accounts online
Maintain regular social media engagement on GEL’s social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and Instagram) by creating informative and creative post content as well as interacting with other accounts online
Work with program coordinators to ensure that program opportunities and environmental impacts are being regularly communicated to our audiences (promoting Home Checkups, Depave Paradise site transformations, etc.)
Design, content development and implementation of LEN’s monthly e-newsletter for Londoners to engage them on upcoming events and volunteer opportunities in the environmental community
Design, content development and implementation of GEL’s monthly e-newsletter for business members to inform them of upcoming events, member services, and sustainability opportunities
Regular maintenance of LEN and GEL websites to ensure information is accurate and and educational
Answering and directing intake calls and emails for various programs
Attending community and networking events to help strengthen our strategic partnerships and business development strategies
Track sponsorship and grant recognition deliverables
Design of promotional materials (flyers, brochures, graphics), event invitations, surveys, and other communications materials for online platforms as required
Assist with digital community engagement related to the Climate Emergency Action Plan and new climate action initiatives in London
Participating in local events put on by LEN, its programs, and member organizations as a photographer and live social media support
Ensure that all marketing and communications activities align with our communications and outreach goals as identified in our strategic plan
Input metrics into our systems to track digital community engagement performance
Maintaining a weekly log of activities and achievements
Performing other similar and related activities as required
Reporting project progress to the Supervisor in a timely manner
Supervision and Mentoring Plan:
The Environmental Communications and Partnership Development Specialist will report directly to the Supervisor at the LEN. Orientation to the LEN and the position will be provided at the beginning of the position and will include an overview of the LEN organizational structure, mandate, policies, procedures and properties.
Project training and supervision will be provided by the Supervisor who will communicate the specific goals, tasks and expectations of individual projects. The Environmental Communications and Partnership Development Specialist will work with the Supervisor directly most days and be in contact on a daily basis when working independently.
The Supervisor will meet with the Environmental Communications and Partnership Development Specialist once per week to review progress on projects, update work plans accordingly, and discuss new ideas and challenges. The Environmental Communications Coordinator will be supported with opportunities for continued learning and professional development throughout their contract term.
