Our record of accomplishment includes achievements in public policy, residential energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric mobility, water protection and leadership development.
Windfall Ecology Centre is growing, and we are seeking a post-secondary graduate for the position of Energy Advisor in Training. Reporting to the Energy Programs Manager, this position will provide a wide variety of analytical and administrative support as we work with a diverse set of clients and partners, including municipal and local governments, and technical partners to develop energy infrastructure and policy strategies.
This is an entry level position suited for an individual who has specialized knowledge about building science or energy-efficient building practices and is interested in becoming a Certified Energy Advisor or Register Energy Advisor. Comprehensive on the job training will be provided through a one on one mentor approach and in field job shadowing with the Energy Programs Manager and a Registered Energy Advisor. Training will include customer service, program details and delivery, forms of measurement and evaluation, and how to conduct an energy evaluation.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to
Schedule client appointments and field personnel and contribute toward the development and growth of Windfall’s energy efficiency programs
Maintain an up-to-date online scheduling system and CRM and identify opportunities for streamlining administrative processes
Deliver excellent customer service, resolving customer issues and escalating challenges to Program Manager
Manage high call volumes, email inquiries and voicemail messages
Provide feedback on customer trends and challenges, documenting issues for ongoing/improved training and program development
Promote (if required) related service and programs
Attend scheduled staff meeting and training sessions as required
Assist Registered Energy Advisor with residential home energy evaluations and procedures
Provide daily administrative support to senior staff
Database management and integration
Data reporting and analysis
Qualifications
This role is suited for candidates interested in pursuing a career as a Registered Energy Advisor. Preferred candidates are those that have already passed or are studying for their Foundation Level Exam. The ideal candidate should have a passion for working in the field of energy efficiency, demonstrate outstanding customer service, be an enthusiastic professional, and be able to build relationships with internal and external customers. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to become a full-time Registered Energy Advisor with Windfall Centre.
This individual must have above-average communication and organizational skills and be able to multi-task. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with all types of people and think outside the box to solve challenges.
This position is open to applicants who:
(Preferred) Passed or studying for their Foundation Level Exam with Natural Resources Canada
Have graduated from a post-secondary institution
Intend to lead an environmental career related to science, technology, engineering, or mathematics
Are 30 years of age or younger
Are a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or have refugee status
Are eligible to work in Canada
Are unemployed or underemployed
Have not participated previously in a federal youth employment or education program
1-2 years of customer service experience
Proficient in Microsoft applications (Office, Dynamics)
Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software
Basic knowledge about building science and/or energy-efficient building practices
Possession of a valid Ontario driver’s license
Access to a reliable vehicle with liability insurance of not less than $1,000,000
Must be willing to travel to York Region, Durham Region, and the Greater Peterborough
