Donor Relations / Administrative Assistant – Toronto Wildlife Centre – North York, Toronto, Ontario

Location: Downsview Park, including some off-site as needed, with an expected move to the Rouge Park in 2017

Reports to: Operations Manager

Compensation: $33,000 to $35,000 (commensurate with experience)

Position Summary

As a front line person, typically the first point of contact for many of our donors, you will have the unique opportunity to build relationships with our donors; like-minded individuals who share your passion for promoting peaceful co-existence for people and wildlife. Although considered an entry level fundraising position with a focus on administrative duties, the relationships with our donors form the foundation of the centre’s fundraising efforts making the Donor Relations and Administrative Assistant a critical role within our fundraising team.

Key Responsibilities

Donor correspondence
Creating, updating and maintaining donor digital records
Creating and sending tax receipts, thank you letters and cards, as well as all other forms of donor recognition
Assisting with regular mailings including newsletters and direct mail
Assisting with fundraising and other events, which may be off-site and outside normal working hours
Assisting with other fundraising and administrative tasks as needed

Requirements

Passion for Toronto Wildlife Centre’s mission
Experience and/or educational background in fundraising
Experience working with eTapestry or other fundraising software
Must be highly proficient with computers, including but not limited to Office suite
Work or volunteer experience within a non-profit setting

Excellent interpersonal skills; must be personable and have a good phone manner
Exceptional attention to detail
Proven ability to multi-task in a busy environment, to work well under pressure, and to prioritise tasks appropriately while meeting time-sensitive demands
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Ability and comfort with taking initiative and ownership of your work
Proficient in creative problem solving
Ability to work well with a team and independently

Assets

Experience in a customer service-focused setting
Bookkeeping and accounting skills
