About the role
The Transition Accelerator is seeking a motivated and thoughtful leader who wants to support the advancement of the organization’s net zero agenda in a practical way. The successful candidate will refine and implement internal systems, manage the operations of the organization, and manage a staff of two direct reports.
This is a full-time role that can be performed remotely. Strong communication and organizational skills are important, along with a passion to advance Canada’s transition to a sustainable economy.

Responsibilities and Focus Areas
The Director of Finance and Operations will refine and keep current the systems required for smooth organizational operations. Systems to include finance, human resources, software and collaboration tools, contracting, document sharing and archiving, organizational policies, reporting, and any other systems required to support the development and operations of a nimble, impactful organization that prides itself on delivery.
A key responsibility will be to manage the organization’s finances. Financial responsibilities include accounting process and procedures, managing annual budgeting processes, financial reporting including board-level reporting, contracting functions, annual auditing, and managing signing authorities, banking, and accounts payable/receivable.
Qualifications, Expertise, and Personal Traits
The ideal candidate will possess the following education, work experience and personal traits:
A university degree in business, accounting, or other pertinent degree;
A minimum of 10 years of business management experience; including demonstrated ability to manage accounting functions and experience in presenting formal financial analysis to senior executive teams;
Ability to coordinate and manage staff and contractors;
Ability to work in a changing environment;
Well-organized, comfortable with troubleshooting problems and handling multiple work streams;
Responsible, takes initiative, and likes to be held accountable for results;
Comfortable managing remote processes and teams;
Experience and interest in systems thinking;
Business-level fluency in both official languages
