Director – Eeyou Marine Region Planning Commission – Waskaganish

Essential Responsibilities
manage the day-to-day operations of the EMRPC;
provide support to EMRPC meetings by assisting the Chairperson by setting the agenda and ensuring appropriate travel arrangements have been made;
ensuring that the EMRPC operates in a manner consistent with their policies and procedures;
ensuring that the regular annual administrative tasks are completed on schedule;
monitoring and reporting the progress of action items and implementation of the EMRPC annual work plans;
preparing an annual workplan, budget and cash flow projections for the operation of the EMRPC in co-operation with the Chairperson;
representing the EMRPC with co-management partners, Government, the public and at local annual assemblies;
increasing public understanding and appreciation of the EMRPC through public presentations;
establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other organizations, other co-management boards, MDOs, government agencies and the public;
Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
The Director is responsible for the hiring, general direction, coordination, and evaluation of EMRPC staff;
assigning and tracking various tasks and initiatives to EMRPC staff and outside consultants as required;
Education
A CEGEP degree or diploma in business management or specialization in administration
Experience
A minimum of 5 years work experience in business management or environmental management;
Knowledge of land use planning and environmental management is an asset;
A suitable combination of education and experience.
Language
Fluency in Cree and English;
Ability to speak and write French is considered an asset.

Strong organizational skills;
Must be able to work independently;
Knowledgeable of Eeyou Istchee and the Eeyou Marine Region.
