Digital Administrative Assistant, Herald Shop – The Chronicle Herald – Halifax City

At The Chronicle Herald we have a legacy of producing premiere content, and we strive to apply those high standards to everything we do.  We are seeking a Digital Administrative Assistant to help grow our Herald Shop brand and apply multimedia and web savvy to this entry-level administrative role.  Our ideal candidate is able to work independently, learn quickly and troubleshoot issues as they arise.

During this one-year term, you will provide efficient, accurate and timely administrative support to the department, in addition to internal and external clients.  While working at our modern head office in Halifax you will be responsible for supporting all department operations; you will interact with customers, process orders and assist with maintaining the Herald Shop website.  If you’re a self-starter with a positive attitude and the ability to maintain professionalism in all interactions, then this opportunity might be a good fit for you!

Core Duties:

Execute the website’s administrative operations by creating accounts, updating content, testing bugs and generating reports;
Prepare, pack and ship inventory;
Provide administrative and functional support to internal and external clients;
Process payments and financial transactions, online and offline;
Maintain quality standards for web-content and ensure consistency of the website;
Provide administrative support to Herald Shop Manager and internal sales teams;
Assist with Herald Shop marketing as required, such as booking ads and use of social media;
Create, update and maintain various reports and spreadsheets; and,
Perform general office duties including typing, filing, answering telephones and photocopying.

Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of Office Administration diploma or related post-secondary education, or equivalent experience;
Minimum 3 years administrative or customer service experience;
Proficient Microsoft Office skills including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;
Minimum typing speed of 40 words per minute;
Experience with basic HTML, SEO and social media considered an asset;
Highly organized with demonstrated problem-solving skills;
Ability to multitask and prioritize, while working under minimum supervision in a dynamic environment;
High degree of initiative and able to work effectively with varying personalities, under pressure of daily deadlines;
Team-oriented and approachable, with effective interpersonal skills; and,
Capable of lifting up to 9 kg (20 lbs.)
