Compliance Associate – erthos inc. – Ontario

About the role
Reporting into the Sustainability and Compliance Manager, we’re seeking a Compliance Associate to join our team. In this role, you will be working closely with members of the Product, and Research & Development Teams to ensure all development is in compliance with industry standards and regulations, as well as ensuring organizational compliance to industry requirements to help us achieve new levels of growth and success at erthos. As an ideal candidate, you have proven experience in a highly dynamic and/or start-up setting. Your diligence, communication and organizational skills are second to none and you enjoy balancing a wide variety of tasks that contribute to the success of the team.

In this position you will play an important role in the following key areas:
Assisting the Sustainability and Compliance Manager in the development, implementation, and maintenance of processes, policies, and procedures to monitor and maintain compliance with legislation and industry best practices
Assist in development, implementation and monitoring of ISO programs (i.e. ISO 14001, 9001)
Maintaining, conducting, and improving related internal audit programs
Addressing findings from internal audits, generating reports and developing corrective actions
Compiling and generating reports and other forms of communication to release to relevant departments
Researching, reviewing and developing policy, standards, and regulatory feedback for municipal, provincial and federal governments as well as global jurisdictions as required and pertaining to erthos
Monitoring and preparing regular updates and briefings on key global, federal and provincial issues and discussions impacting erthos
Tracking, reporting and monitoring regulatory changes and requirements
Tracking, reporting and monitoring relevant industry certifications and standards, changes, and their requirements
Assisting the Sustainability and Compliance Manager in synthesizing research reports and feedback for Product and Research & Development Teams regarding updated industry requirements
Other relevant tasks as assigned

About you
First things first, let’s make sure you check off some of the basics…
An undergraduate degree in a related field
2-3 years of work-related experience preferably in environmental compliance
Experience in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of ISO programs (i.e. ISO 9001, 14001)
Sound knowledge and working ability to understand and interpret governing legislation and related regulations
Ability to interpret and understand standards and guidelines (i.e. ISO 17088, ASTM D6400, etc)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Participate in continual learning to stay up to date on compliance and regulatory changes
Independent, and able to excel in a continuously growing and evolving environment
ISO auditor certification (i.e. ISO 9001, 14001) is an asset
Bilingual is an asset
