About the position:
The Energy Futures Lab is seeking an experienced communications professional to join its team. This is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) remote position and will work closely with other Communications professionals in the Lab.
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree in a related field, obtained from an accredited university
A minimum of 5-7 years working in communications
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
A strong understanding of how various factors (social, technological, political etc.) are currently shaping Alberta and Canada’s energy system
Comfort working within a virtual environment (using Zoom, Google Workspace, etc.)
What you’ll do:
Work across the EFL platform to support the Lab’s ongoing and evolving communications efforts
Supporting the development of communications strategies
Track developments and emerging trends shaping Alberta and Canada’s energy landscape
Help increase the EFL’s influence and credibility through the deployment of honest, well-researched stories
Foster existing and new relationships with key media contacts
Write, revise and copy-edit EFL communications to ensure all messaging is strategic, succinct, on-brand and thoughtfully executed
Create interesting and timely content for the EFL’s social media channels
Support and attend EFL events and workshops as required
Attend the EFL’s weekly team meeting

While the EFL team works remotely, occasional travel may be required (Covid-19 measures will apply to in-person workshops).. Proven, related experience is required for this full-time position.

Understanding of Alberta context
Assets:
Strong media connections
Experience with design tools such as Adobe Creative Cloud and Canva
Experience with communications tools such as Meltwater and Hootsuite
