COMMUNICATIONS, MARKETING & EVENTS OFFICER – EcoNova Education – Nova Scotia

The position:
The communications, marketing, and events officer will be responsible for conducting our contests and other events across Canada. They will also lead our communications plans with our partners on our programming, social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter) and our website. Finally, implement relevant marketing or communication tools for our stakeholders.
Their role will also be to develop the image of our organization, manage our reputation, develop our public relations, and boost participation in our events.
To carry out their role, the communications manager in addition with having a strategic vision on communication and the organization of events, must be technically able to create by themself communication, marketing, creative, engaging, and graphic advertising campaigns. This person should also be able to create web pages and/or add content to an existing web page. Its capabilities will therefore be strategic, organizational, and planning but also technical from a graphical point of view.
The ideal candidate should be familiar with environmental and climate awareness and have experience communicating with the public on these or other social justice issues. In addition, a passion for writing and content addressing the environment and climate change will be welcome to develop articles, newsletters, and press kits.
Adaptability and rigour to keep up with our schedule and needs are essential. Knowing how to work in a team is essential but working independently will be part of everyday life.

3. Responsibilities:
Organization and managing events: calendar, logistics, communication plan, engagement plan, stakeholder search, search for sponsors, partners, etc.
Social strategy and social media skills (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Google Business, etc.).
Development of a loyal, committed, and active community.
Seeking influencers and developing a collaborative relationship.
Management of the organization’s communication/marketing strategy.
Internal and external communication management (social networks, press, blog, customer interviews, etc.).
Management of advertising campaigns.
Creation of visual and graphic resources.
Creating newsletters.
Community and partner leadership, management, and monitoring.
Writing blog articles, press releases and newsletters.
Web writing optimized for SEO.
Site management on WordPress, SEO, traffic manager… Management of any changes to the website.
Writing documents to obtain public or private funding.

4. Skills:
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and French.
Knowledge and proficiency in WordPress.
Demonstrated creativity, imagination, and graphic design skills.
Knowledge and proficiency in Adobe (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, etc.), Microsoft Office, Zoom, Slack, Canva and other online applications.
Ability to independently navigate tablet and laptop applications
Demonstrated ability to mobilize, motivate and inspire a community, growing it daily.
Organization, rigour, and versatility.
High level of professionalism at all times.
Demonstrated ability to multi-task with autonomy and flexibility.
Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
Work closely with other team members.
Ability to research to enrich own knowledge and educational materials on environmental, scientific, economic, social, and political topics.
Up to date on environmental news and changes in technology related to social network algorithms.
Ability to write informative and administrative documents in English and French concisely and consistently.

5. Qualifications:
Degree in Marketing, Communication, Graphic Design, Events or equivalent (graduate or undergraduate degree accepted).
Bilingual French and English – mandatory (please refrain from applying otherwise).
Recent experience of at least 3 years – required
Present a portfolio that shows your interest in these areas (academic, personal, and professional work).
Eligible to work legally in Canada – Mandatory
