Communications Coordinator – Kootenay Conservation Program – East Kootenay

Purpose and General Description:
KCP is looking for a qualified contractor to provide communication support services. The primarily role of this position is to provide leadership in facilitating KCP communication activities.

Reporting Relationships
The Communication Coordinator reports directly to the KCP Program Director and will work closely with other KCP contractors, partners and supporters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and distribute monthly electronic newsletter
Coordinate the writing of KCP publications, articles and press releases
Assist with reviewing and developing presentations when required
Maintain and enhance KCP and Stewardship Solutions websites keeping them current and up-to-date, update Stewardship Solutions print outreach materials
Coordinate other communications materials as needed (brochures, rack cards, logos)
Short video creation and video editing
Maintain social media channels
Report out on metrics (social media, Google analytics, etc)
Assist with organizing and delivering webinars, in-person and online meetings, annual conference; manage online registration, create posters
Maintain clear communication with Program Director and red-flag issues of organizational importance, as necessary.
Support communications needs of all KCP programs and contractors as needed
Liaise with KCP Partners on a regular basis

Required Qualifications:
Excellent writing ability
Excellent interpersonal skills
Detail oriented and organized
Proactive – takes initiative
Team player able to work independently
Demonstrated experience using MS Office (Word, Excel and Power Point) and Zoom platform
Demonstrated experience in website management using WordPress
Access to and demonstrated experience using Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop/InDesign)
Familiarity with Google Workspace
Video editing skills
Social media management experience (Facebook, Instagram, YouTube)
Sound knowledge of the Kootenay Region
Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Kootenay Region
Ability to organize time and manage diverse activities and meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated experience with Constant Contact platform
Event planning and management experience
Experience in a non-profit organization would be an asset
Background in conservation/science would be an asset
Graphic design skills would be an asset

Compensation:
This contract will compensate at $30 to $35 per hour, to be determined based upon skills and experience.
