Job Description:
Primary Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Marketing and Communications Manager, or designate, the Communications Assistant will support multiple business lines of Waterfront Development, working with staff and partners.
The position will provide support in a number of areas including: writing and editing for a variety of tools; social media research, updates and tracking; web site updates, and event and sponsorship activation assistance. The ideal candidate will also have graphics/design experience.
As a member of a small team, the position also requires a high degree of co-operation with other members of the staff and the ability to work independently.
Additional Responsibilities:
Media coverage tracking and summaries
Photography support
Other related duties as required
Education: Current enrollment and/or completion of university or community college preferred. Other education/experience related to marketing/communications, graphics/design, events and sponsorship is desired.
Compensation: $16.00/hour, 35 hours a week
Term: Potential start date of June 10, 2015 – September 11, 2015. The position would involve some evening and weekend work related to events and social media support.
Required Skills:
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential. Must be able to work in a team environment.
Computers: Proficient ideally with Apple products and their software, Microsoft Office suite and ideally InDesign and Photoshop.
Experience using social media platforms.
Experience using Word Press for web sites considered an asset.
Other:
Flexibility in scheduling including availability for weekend and evening work is necessary
Good interpersonal skills are necessary
Experience working in events is considered an asset
A passion for the waterfront is essential
