Climate / Energy Project Assistant – ICLEI Canada – Toronto, Ontario

Background

ICLEI – Local governments for Sustainability (ICLEI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to addressing global sustainability issues through cumulative local action. Our mission is to build and serve a worldwide movement of local governments to achieve tangible improvement in global environmental and sustainable development conditions through cumulative local actions.

The diversity of our work is best described in three simple phrases: connecting leaders, accelerating action and a gateway to solutions:

As an association we connect and foster leadership by bringing together urban sustainability professionals for shared learning, inspiration and collaboration.
As a movement we accelerate action by running programs and campaigns that communities advance their sustainability activities and achieve meaningful results.
As an agency we provide a gateway to solutions specifically for community practitioners; via a wide variety of pointed projects, innovative tools, targeted resources, and fruitful partnerships.

The ICLEI Canada Office – based in Toronto – provides a full range of nationally-focused capacity building programming, research, training and consulting on a variety of local sustainability issues, including corporate and community energy and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions management, quantification, inventory development, and action plan development, as well as municipal climate change risk and vulnerability assessments, adaptation plan development, and urban biodiversity planning.
